I live in a 1970s concrete block house. I have plans submitted to Auckland City Council to convert the internal access single garage into a new master bedroom with ensuite and adding a tandem carport to one side of the house which will also require additional driveway. For the garage conversion, the floor needs to be raised to match the rest of the house. The walls need to be relined with Noiseline. The old powerboard needs to be upgraded and moved 2 metres. One internal non-loadbearing wall needs to be removed between garage and standalone toilet to incorporate the toilet into the new ensuite. Toilet needs to be changed and a shower cubicle, vanity, mirror cabinet and heated towel rail needs to be added. Floor is tiled, walls Gib Aqualine. The current garage door to be replaced with aluminium windows and weatherboard. The existing bathroom needs a toilet added and existing vanity replaced with a new vanity and plumbing require to move the new vanity towards one side of the wall to make room for the new toilet. The carport is tandem, on one side of the house with 8 posts. There is a slight slope on the section and a flat driveway needs to be built , probably with a small retaining wall (approximately 25 cm?) on the downhill side. A curved driveway to be built to connect to current driveway/entrance. If anyone is interested, we have detailed plans drawn by an architect friend for quote. We will supply the 2 vanities, mirror cabinets and toilets and the shower cubicle and shower head and mixer.
