The wiring is in the roof space and there is now a layer of thermal insulation over it. Repair to weatherboard house corner

We’ve had our weatherboard house exterior painted and have been told there is a bit of rot in the corner wood post (as pictured). The painter suggested a builder could replace this piece or perhaps add a capping to the bottom to square it off. Wanting to get this sorted ASAP so the painting can be complete.
