Project description

This Dunedin commercial building needed drastic renovation after many years of dark colours and gloomy atmosphere; The entrance was weighted by deep burgundy walls and dated flooring with heavy brown tones, the bathrooms needed to be lifted using new materials and textures as well. The new entrance showcases a newfound elegance thanks to the use of thin porcelain slabs mimicking the classic Carrara Marble style, the marble veins matching the soft grey used for the floor.

The doors and handrail were kept black to make the most of the strong contrast with this new bright space. The bathrooms follow the same colour scheme of the entrance but now inverted; Big grey marble tiles create a feature on the back wall and the white veins match the simple ceramic rectangular tiles chosen for the rest of the walls. The dark and warm vanity timber matches the paneling used in the entrance for the big doors and custom-made mailbox.
