We were hired to relocate a hot water cylinder for a house owner who had moved it from a cabinet inside the house to the basement. The homeowner had received a previous quote of $500 to extend the cable, which involved running an exposed trunking from the old isolator switch to the basement. Instead, we offered an alternative solution.
Our experienced electrician carefully assessed the floor structure and accurately drilled a hole under the floor and between the walls. This allowed us to run the cable without exposing it, giving the installation a cleaner finish. To cover the original hole, we provided a blank cover, saving the house owner the extra cost of patching it.
Rather than extending the old cable, we upgraded it by running a new 2.5mm cable to the switchboard, replacing the old 1.5mm cable to meet the power demand of the hot water cylinder. We did all of this while keeping the cost at the same $500 quoted by the previous contractor.
