NATIVE Design Workshop

Architecture & Design
Auckland
About

Based in Morningside, Auckland, NATIVE Design Workshop works on projects across Aotearoa and the Pacific.

We believe that every project is an opportunity to create beautiful spaces for those who use them and that architecture should be available to everyone. With these beliefs, we create beauty through our approach space and use simple and accessible materials to do so. The performance of our buildings and passive design principles are integral to every project we undertake, be it a home in a dense urban context or on a hillside overlooking the ocean.

We draw on the natural environment where possible to deliver outlook, natural light and connection to maximise our appreciation of space. Each project is informed and influenced by those who will live in it and the environment in which it sits.

Architecture, interior design and landscape are holistically considered with each project. Sustainable design is rigorously pursued and each project improves upon learning from the ones that have come before.

If you would like to get in touch about a project you are looking at, we would love to have a chat and see if our studio would be a good fit for you.

Preston House

Residential - Alteration and Addition A tired and poorly insulated 1930's Californian bungalow needed to be reworked for a family of 4 that reconnect them with their garden and accomodate a large social gathering in an instant. Through working with our clients, we were able to resolve spatial issues with their current home and provide unexpected connections to the outside. The new extension components of this house have been seamlessly added to the existing with the use of prefabricated structural insulated panels, reducing construction time by months as well as wastage on site. The result is a warm and open home that is welcoming and spatially efficient.
