Leak into gib and framing

My downstairs bedroom has a wet patch on the wall and skirting board. The gib is wet. The area is small, but having poked my finger through the gib I can feel wet wood behind. I need advice about what to do next. When I bought the house 6 years ago I could see previous water damage here on the skirting board but as far as I know it has not leaked since, until now. Need to decide whether to call insurance and then proceed to fix.
