Window door and brick sealing

We have a very strong damp smell in the room after heavy rain. We have been told the mortar behind the sill bricks has gaps. The base of the sliding doors is not tightly fitted. There is no water getting inside but the wood frame is also I’ll fitting. Silicone sealing may help. Need a professional sealant installed well.
