Need obligation-free quote for rebuilding a window frame that has suffered rot in corner of window sill due to previous owners not opening windows and letting water sit on window sill. We have two windows frames to replace and we are unsure if it would be viable to do both windows at once or just one at a time. House built 1981 and has fiber-cement sheets. Currently getting abestos tests done. Abestos testing company suggested extracting nails to minimise dust (if it does contain abestos) and removing sheets around window. Had conversations with builders to rebuild frame in past and they suggested --- dependant on size of window because it is labour intensive. Windows are alumiumn and I have temporarily scooped out rot and filled with wood filler. May consider replacing windows also. I intend on getting the windows replaced in summer (i.e. the next 6-12 months) if the job is done correctly, is the right price, and is within our budgets to get completed. Not interested in getting it done right now due to winter and it being cold.
