Job description

Shower Sealing
North Shore

The shower was built in 2004 (prior to current building code). Grout was old and had eroded in some parts. Previous owners had tried to repair it but did a poor job regrouting and putting silicone. Some of the tiles below the glass door were poorly placed and water accumulated and filtered through leaking to downstairs. Grout is already removed from the base of the shower as the idea was to just regrout but then noticed the wood below the door was water damaged and prefer to check and rebuild correctly. Wood in shower frame and other parts got wet and is damaged. Seems the floor might have been slightly damaged around the area. Ideally we should check important surrounding areas for damage and have a hypothetical scenario in case we need to replace floorboards around affected area. Although budget aware, we rather do this right. Remove tiles in the floor, and in walls, if necessary, put impermeable material and re-tile…. Or put appropriate material (could be acrylic). The shower space is 128 cms x 106 cms. Some tiles around shower should probably be checked and put back. Tiles in shower if removed can be replaced by a similar colour palette. Ideally, we get to keep same tiles outside shower to save cost, but showers inside can be replaced. · If shower tiles are replaced, we can consider a few things like replacing old shower fittings for new shower · Removing the little nonstructural wall that partly covers shower edge and replacing it for glass to get more light inside the shower. (as per sketched photo) Main objective is to fully seal and impermeabilize shower to make sure it is good to use.
