Concrete block wall leaking at base and rising damp - needs waterproofing
Job description
1960's unit in Blockhouse Bay leaked in the Jan floods. It is concrete block walls on a concrete foundation, but the front wall is a retaining wall for the front yard (maybe a metre deep or more), which is what leaked. The insurance company has removed carpet, gib etc and the place is waiting to be put back together, but we need to stop it from happening again. We thought we had a bit of time... but it flooded again yesterday in the heavy rain. From what I've been told we need to dig out a section of the front yard and have the blocks/foundation waterproofed, then the yard reinstated. This weeks rain seemed to also come in the side at the base of the block wall (driveway side), so that will need doing as well. The photos show the front of the unit that will need digging out and waterproofing, the side section by the driveway that will need waterproofing, view from the other side of the retaining block wall to give and idea of height, the way the yard currently joins the building, and the wall from the inside of the unit.

Pedro was friendly and straightforward to deal with. He explained what was needed and why and was flexible about start dates when the weather/prep from us looked like it might cause delays. The base of the building wasn't quite as expected once it was dug out but he gave options and explained the costs/time consequences of each making it much less stressful than it could have been. He was clearly invested in doing a solid job with a great outcome and I'd happily recommend him to others.
