This is a challenge for all builders interested. Background: The shower is leaking, causing carpet of the corridor on the outside wall to damp. This dampness has also caused a small part of the lower door frame of the bathroom door to swell up. 5 x plumbers have come and gone, all unable to find out the root cause of this problem. The house is not elevated, and sits on concrete. Because of this, a hole had to be knocked on the outside wall in the corridor to expose the incoming water pipes, and shower tray. However it is impossible to check the waste pipe. All in all, it is confirmed the leak did not come from the incoming pipes or the shower head, mixer set up. They had all been re-silicon. Waste cap was resealed and re-silicon as well, and the carpet outside had stopped getting damp. HOWEVER, it is still slightly damp underneath the shower tray, and when a piece of newspaper is stuffed into here, it will get wet. Work: It has come to the last resort which is to remove the shower tray. Because the wall is a tile finish, this is close to impossible not to break them when removing the whole tray. The tiles have special patterns on them, and since we do not have replacement tiles and they are out of production, it is preferred not the damage them. The other possible option is to break the shower tray into smaller pieces while inside the shower cubicle. This will help with removal of the tray. We will then get the plumber in to check and fix the waste pipe. After this is all done and certain it is not leaking, we can re-do the floor with a tile finish. This could possibly require the concrete floor to be raised to meet the wall tile. Waterproofing this is a MUST. Last but not least, we will need to restore the outside wall, and replace the swollen door frame Any questions or interest, please contact me.
