Septic Tank Clean

My outside drain keeps overflowing when my washing machine empties and I have to plunge my shower to get the water moving. I haven't emptied my septic tank since my family of 5 moved in four years ago and I'm worried that it's full. Either that or my drain is semi-obstructed. The access point to the tank is unburied and easily accessible as far as I can tell.
