Background information: We are having underfloor insulation and a ground vapour barrier installed by an installer. The installer has requested we remove debris from the ground under the house (some photos are attached), to allow them to do their work including installing the ground vapour barrier. The installer also says they will remove the polystyrene insulation and place it in large bags that we supply but they will not dispose of. Quotes for proposed work: In summary, we are seeking itemised quotes for the following work: 1. To remove debris from the ground under the house to allow for installation of the underfloor insulation 2. Transport debris to the transfer station/landfill including paying the disposal cost 3. Transport the old polystyrene underfloor insulation to the transfer station/landfill including paying the disposal cost The above work may require two visits to the property and/or transfer station, the first being to remove the debris before the installer is onsite and the second to pick up the bags of polystyrene. Access under the house requires entry through a large manhole within the house. Access will be arranged. To provide an indication of the amount of existing polystyrene- the house is approximately 100m2 although significant parts have not been insulated in the past and will not be in the future because they include a glass conservatory and others area that are not accessible underfloor (I.e. there is significantly less than 100m2 polystyrene insulation). Here is a link providing an example of the cost to dispose of polystyrene ($180 per 100 kg - we would think that the polystyrene insulation under our house would be lighter than 100kg): --- Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to receiving your quotes.
