Poorly installed attic ducting and ventilation needs replacing

The previous owners did some self install work in the roof crawl space for extraction ventilation, and what appears to be some kind of half installed ventilation system. There's a thermostat in the living room, after 2 years we still haven't figured out what its purpose is. The bathroom extraction fan seems to just aim into the wall cavity. It's a mess. We're looking for an experienced contractor that can take a look and help us replace or repair it with a functional system that ensures the home is well ventilated.
