Dryer vent repair

I have a dryer with a hose at the back connecting to a vent in the ceiling. The hose itself blew out and I want to attach a new one from dryer to ceiling. I have new hose ready to fit. I have pulled the existing hose from the ceiling too far down as I wrongly assumed it was pushed inside a bigger hose. Now I don't have enough slack to tape the new hose to the old one unless I can get inside the ceiling but I can't seem to find the hose inside the ceiling. It shouldn't be hard to find but I was struggling in the space and pushing pink bats out of the way (not the funnest job) but couldn't find it. I am hoping someone will be able to do this for me Have tried calling a few different places - appliance people say call a ventilation person and vice versa.
