I would like an existing hearth re-built to fit a new fireplace. The photos below show (i) the old hearth and (ii) a close-up of the slate tiles and beaten copper surround. The fireplace is a new one that has just been installed. I see 3 possibilities: 1. Dismantle the old hearth and use the materials to build the new one, as the new one needs to be smaller than the old one. For this we would need to get some more matching slate tiles - about 4 of 300x300mm slate. 2. Make the hearth using new tiles but keeping the beaten copper surround. 3. Make the hearth out of all new materials. The dimensions of the old hearth are 1320x515x70mm. The dimensions of the new hearth will need to be approx. --- x 500x50mm. The fascia plate for the new fireplace is lower than the old one and the hearth will need to fit snugly under the new face plate. I have some old building materials such as timber and cement board that could be used.
