Floor tiling for a wood fire

Tile a 1595 x 600 mm area in front of an insert fire (see attached photo). Put metal side around tiles. Will need to cut out existing carpet and put new tackless strips around tile edges and attach carpet to these. The distance out of 600 mm is flexible - minimum required is 450 mm but wouldn't want to go any more than 800 mm out. Replacing gas fire with a wood fire so need non-combustible surface on floor.
