tiling a splashback in a kitchen

I want to tile the splash back in my kitchen, at the moment we have a Perspex splashback which I want to remove and replace with tiles. I'll probably do this to the height its at currently which is approx. 40cms but am considering doing the whole wall up to the ceiling.
