Kitchen Splash back Tile

Looking for a tiler to tile our kitchen splash back. Currently looking for quotes and for advice on if we can tile directly over the glass splash back or if we need to remove the glass splash back? Size is 760 x 2220 and we are thinking about pretty classic subway tiles, likely laid horizontally. We haven't chosen the tiles yet so if there is something specific we should be considering if we tile directly onto the current glass splash back we would greatly appreciate the advice.
