Water drainage

We have an over ground pool that needs some TLC to it that can’t be done unless the pool is empty. It is a big pool that we ordered a water truck to fill it up as our house runs on tank water. I am wondering if you are able to take the water out whilst we repair it and then replace with the same water as we cannot afford another load of water.
