Job description

Geotechnical Engineer
Porirua

We have a 40 year old wooden retaining wall that is starting to fail. The wooden retaining wall is 20 metre long and up to three metres high. Most of the large round up to three metre high posts look ok apart from one or two posts that are on a lean (please see the first attached picture) This post may require an anchor. to be installed to reduce any further lean. The main issue appears to be that a number of the retaining boards in between the po --- starting to fail and dirt and water is seeping out between the large gaps and cracks (please see the last two attached pictures) This is a concern as our house and decks foundations are located on top of the retaining wall and are literally 1 metre back from the retaining wall. The house / deck foundations are now starting to lean and have massive cracks in the dirt where this ground is now escaping through the below retaining wall subsequently undermining the house / deck foundations. This is a major concern in case the whole retaining wall collapses. Bad drainage may also be to blame. We require a structural or geotechnical engineer to inspect the wall and construct a plan going forward to resolve the issue and to then commence the repair work. Ideally we would like the initial consult to take place ASAP, with the repair work also to start as soon as possible
