A developer has bought a neighboring property, on which they are planning to erect 12 town houses (in 3 blocks of 4). Resource consent will mean they need works to handle the stormwater, which apparently means directional drilling a pipe across our property to connect with a manhole. Our property is on a sloping section, with the house being mostly on piles. We have had geotechnical assessment of the civil engineer's two options (basically to cross our property at the front of the house and join SW system under our driveway, or to cross through an SEA at the rear of our property and join the SW system further down). They advised the latter option (rear of the property) to avoid setting new bridging piles to meet the council's requirements. The attached image is of the currently proposed option from the civil engineers. Although the geotech has advised that this option presents the lesser risk to our home, we would rather have the protection of a builder or structural engineer look at the plans and provide us with a risk assessment as well.
