I am attempting to obtain a Certificate of Acceptance from the Council with regard to some bathroom work I had done in 2015. One sticking point is a glass-block shower wall that was installed by a reputable installer in 2015. The installer is now no longer around, and it is impossible to identify the manufacturer of the blocks, and whether or not the glass is 'safety glass'. The request from the Council inspector is "to get an engineer to come out and provide comments on the structure, and its compliance – the biggest concern we have is the safety and as we have not specifications for the products used and how it has been constructed we need evidence of compliance with the relevant building codes." While understanding the requirements are a bit vague, I need a structural engineer to come and inspect the shower wall and ascertain whether it is 'safe and compliant' or not, and produce a report to that effect.
