Refurbish/make safe existing brick fireplace

Hi We'd like to engage someone to make safe our existing fireplace. It is not used at the moment and we may be renting our place out. We want to get the fireplace to a safe standard with options either to safely cap so it cannot be used or for it to be made safe for use. We expect the person who we choose will be able to give us sound advice on the best way forward and then carry out the works. Timeframes: visit ASAP, resolved within 3 weeks if possible - note we currently have scaffolding up as our house is being repainted - providing safe and easy access to the chimney for that period.
