Replace stair treads and risers

We have a 1974 timber frame construction home with original stair treads made from 1970s era composite timber. The stair treads have become soft and need to be replaced. Stairs are usually carpeted so a simple reasonable cost timber of sufficient quality will suffice, but we are open to recommendations. We plan to reinstall the carpet on the stairs so prefer to maintain the current outside/top dimensions.
