Make and install a hinged rimu baby gate to match rimu staircase

Make and install a hinged rimu baby gate for stairs. Have attached a photo of a crude approach grabbed off the Internet which opens very wide (270 degrees) to fold around a balustrade. We want a good-looking semi-permanent gate built in rimu to match the existing wooden staircase. Two additional photos have been attached of the top of the staircase in question.
