We have a small wooden (not sure if it's timber) staircase with ten steps or less in our house, and it is an open stair case, which we would like to convert to a closed stair case. We would like to make the handrails to have less gaps in between the bars that support the handrails, as we are expecting a baby, and the gaps are far too wide at the moment. If can be done easily, the area beneath the staircase could also be completely closed to make a little storage, as it is a space not being used. The space under the stair case would be about 2 square metres or less.
