Skylight Issues

Job description

Skylight Repair
Rodney

I had two Velux fixed skylights installed on a 15 degree pitch metal decremastic tile roof just under 3 years ago. The skylights gave me no issue for about a year, but then we started to get drips coming through our raked tongue & groove ceiling. The original issue, as I understand it, is that leaves and debris have gotten in, under and all around where the skylight flashing up-end meets the cut tile edge, which has gaps of anywhere between 1mm to 10mm. I had attempted to clear this area myself with varying degrees of success, but still couldn't seem to escape random drips. The certified Velux installer that installed the skylights seems to have disappeared and can't be contacted. About 6 - 9 months ago I got a plumber/roofer to take a look who ended up spraying expanding foam in the gaps around the flashing up-end and tiles, which has made the issue worse, given that the water can no longer run off naturally. After wasting that money, I decided to give it a further crack myself with some CRC LeakStop to completely cover the join betweem the up-end and tiles. This originally appeared to solve the issue, but with last night's heavy downpour in Auckland, it was drip central all over the place. I'm getting a bit sick of it and want to get it resolved properly. Bonus issue - I also have 2 older velux skylights (10+ years), one of which has never leaked, and one that very rarely leaked. However, after the expanding foam experiment, they leak regularly too. Calling all roofers / skylight experts that know what they're doing. It feels like maybe I need new flashings all round, or maybe there's another solution. I've attached a photo of the two new (2020) skylights,
