Resetting existing alarm system in home

Hi there, We bought a house last year with an existing alarm system, unfortunately the previous owners either lost the master codes or never had them from the owners before that. There is a keypad located by one of the doors in the house but we have never used the alarm. Looking for someone who might be able to help us reset the alarm or figure out how to use it. Thanks
