Reattach a external downpipe

We have an external down pipe that has come completely away from the house and run off from the roof is just discharging all over the ground. We have only just bought the house but I suspect it has been that way for a while. We are planning on doing a major renovation later in the year, which will include reroofing and so we just want a simple patch up job to get us through the Winter months. The house is single story where the down pipe needs to be reattached but raised slightly above ground level. The location is Papamoa Beach Road, Papamoa East. It's probably the sort of thing most homeowners would sort out themselves but my husband is shocking when it comes to DIY. Would like this fixed over the next week or so.
