Split gutter section above rear steps

Gutter currently has a connector marked by the white arrow which is directly over the steps to the back door and leaks when it rains. Have had it looked at and seal applied but it keeps leaking so would rather move the join away from the steps. We are needing someone to come out and replace a new gutter piece with the two joins either side of the steps. That way if they drip it'll be into the garden rather than the back step. Image below explains what I mean, red lines are where the new joins would be with a new piece in between. Gutter is easily accessible but is a two story house. Height to gutter is approx 1.5 stories.
