Leaking Soffit after heavy rain.

After a roof inspection and following the results a quote to repair & evolution of any water damage for insurance. Water seems to be pooling in one area of the Soffit. 2 small holes have been drilled to release water in heavy rain. Was a fair amount in the last heavy downfall. Is minimal in regular rain. Have checked the roof area (as much as we can and could not spot anything) the house was recently purchased as a first home and the initial inspection had the roof in good working order.
