Job description

New & Replacement Metal Roof
Hutt Valley

My house has a sloping tile roof, which is fine (I think!), but there was an extension built many years ago (before my time here) that is covered with a flat roof and no roof space. A few months ago, during the legendary snowfall, the ceiling under this flat roof leaked. The insurance inspector determined it was a freak accident due to the snow building up where the tile roof joins the flat roof. The ceiling was replaced and they even put in the pink batts into the small cavity. However, a week later, it snowed again and it again leaked. The new ceiling held up much better than the old pinex one and so I did not claim again. More recently, there was a long period of rain, and this time the ceiling leaked in the toilet, near the skirting. So it appears that the entire flat roof must have got damaged or worn out by the weather, or maybe I just got unlucky! Turns out that house insurance does not cover any roofing, so I need this problem fixed before I get them to fix my ceiling. The entire flat roof is about 11 sq m. The flat roof appears to have some rust and some shoddy patching up. I've had a look on the BRANZ site and found that in my case the only thing I can get is a Membrane System as the roof is just over a meter in length, so to achieve the minimum 3° required for any profile sheet solutions, I'd need at least 5 cm pitch which I don't have as it's impeded by the tiled roof. Lowering the roof is not an option as there is no additional cavity space and the ceiling under that roof is already lower than the rest of the house. I guess there is also the option for rollout flat sheets or mastic asphalt but these solutions are not E2/AS1 compliant. There is also an option to check the tiles of the main roof as I think a couple have moved and there are cracks along the tiled ridge. Perhaps need some mortar patching up.

Good work, friendly guys, and the cheapest quote by far. Took two days to finish the job and about a week to get the metal from the factory. Kept me informed at all times.
