Replace kitchen benchtop

I wanted a new benchtop and cupboard doors, have got one quote but thought it a bit steep. My house was built in the late 50s still has some of the origional formica benches, the sink bench was replaced about 20years ago with a stainless bench. I just want to replace the benches, get new taps and sink. My daughter is going to paint kitchen and dining room, and will get in someone to lift the floor tiles sand and polish the wooden floor boards for me.
