Job description

Bathroom Renovation
Papakura

I inherited a house in Papakura, and although much of it is in okay shape, the shower box is seriously dated and has some visible decay creeping in to the base of the walls/lining. It’s a bit old-fashioned in that the shower is a separate ‘room’. I am thinking to sell or rent the house and move elsewhere from around March 2024, and don't want or need to do major renovations at this point. A real estate agent who was door-knocking in the neighbourhood took a quick look, and said while the bathroom itself probably doesn’t need renovation for the purposes of rental, the shower itself definitely needs replacement. _ I see two possibilities: 1. Replace just the shower and shower alcove itself, retaining the 'separate room' aspect 2. Knocking out the wall and incorporating the shower into the entire bathroom for a more modern spacious look. _ However I imagine option 2 would mean renovating the whole bathroom, and there might be serious structural work to remove a wall and build a new one. But I would be open to discussing ideas. The gap at the top of the alcove wall into the main bathroom functions as a steam outlet. but that tends to just fill the bathroom and surrounding area with moisture, so it would be good to discuss how an extractor fan might be possible, too. Timeframe: finished before March 2024 – however it would be nice to enjoy a modern shower before then if possible!
