Removing a non structural small wall and adding a door to the hallway

I would like to remove a wall that is just for separating the areas and should not be structural from what we have been told and I would like to add a door for the hallway either normal or sliding. Most probably we will need to change the carpet as well as it will be a small whole left by the wall removal.
