Small renovation - new external doors

Wanting to add a new external doorway (French doors) to our home. Believe it just falls outside the scope of needing full consent so after an experienced licensed builder to advise on first and then quote and complete the work. Two options we are considering.....Option 1. New door next to existing window so will require lintel and after advice whether we can make this fit with sizes and structure. Option 2. Would be to widen existing window slightly and use hole for doors instead. House is 1950s and weatherboard clad. Hoping to have the job done for Dec.
