The problem to be solved is heavy rain not reaching the larger grate, pictured in the foreground, backing up at the smaller grate in the gutter by garage door entrance, then flooding the garage. The suggested solution is to put a decent sized sump there and connect the downpipe directly to the sump. The job would be to cut concrete, dig out existing drain, install flat top 450mm x 450mm x 950mm cesspit with steel grille on top, connect to stormwater outflow and downpipe intake, back fill, and re-concrete brolen surface area. The downpipe shown in the photo should be connected to the sump under ground.
