Drainage Engineer Required

Job description

Drainlaying
Tauranga

Drainage Engineer Required to do a site design for renovations at my property in Judea, Tauranga to meet TCC consent requirements. I'm adding to the footprint of the existing building which is in an area where soak holes are being decommissioned so the design needs to include holding tank/s etc. I have layout plans available & my architect has basically completed the working drawings & we've been waiting on this design. I've only been informed today by the engineer I'd contacted a month or so ago that they require almost a $1000 for a site visit in order to ensure their quote covers everything required. I'm unsure if this is standard practice or, taking advantage - but, wow, really!? How do you quote without a site inspection & know your quote is fair by covering what's required - as opposed to adding to the design cost at a later date? Is this normal to charge - or to charge so much? I'd be very grateful for any advice or help, or if you're an engineer and can do the design, or help in any way, please contact me; thanks so much.
