old school bog

we have a very old toilet in an old ex state house with with airvent pipe coming out of back of toilet and into the wall very old school and ugly, so if we buy a toilet we need a plumber to put toilet in for us but a toilet without the ugly air vent thing i dont know what that is going to involve
