Replace old shower head

I just moved into this 1970s house and the shower head has come off when I tried to angle the water spray. Looks like it was already damaged and waiting to fall off. The shower arm has a ball end but I couldn't find any replacement heads that would fit this. After a search online it seems this is a very old head type and all the heads these days are screw on. If you can replace the shower head with one that fits this ball end, that would be good. But I feel like it would be better to replace the shower arm with an updated one. Also, the water temp dial seems a bit loose as nothing comes out in the cold area, but that could be due to the head. Wouldn't mind you looking into that as well.
