Replace indoor HWC to outdoor HWC

Hi there, our Hot water cylinder is located inside a wardrobe in my soon’s room. We would like to move the HWC outside to increase the size of my son’s room. Not sure if this type of work required building consent, hoping it doesn’t but keen to hear from the experts.
