Replace ball cock brass (water overflowing) AND replace bathroom taps please

Hi - the water tank (in the roof space) is overflowing and excess water is flowing out through the pipe to the outside floor. I thought the ball was the issue and so basically tied a water bottle to help it float higher so the value will close when it's full as a temp solution. The water still overflowed and so I decided to go buy a ballcock brass - both a 20mm and 15mm as I wasn't sure which one would fit. I need someone to help replace the existing ballcock brass with the one I bought (hoping that will fix the water overflow issue). Also - my mum's cold water bath tap is leaking - she wants this fix as well or rather replace both the hot and cold bath taps with the one she bought recently.
