New Shower Mixer

Job description

Renovation & Repair
Christchurch

We have moved from a lower pressure to a mains pressure system and the shower mixer we currently have installed is causing the shower to flood. I have a new shower mixer and need it installed in the shower. I need to get this done by Easter, when some family are coming to stay.

Initial response from Darren was great, and he has been responsive throughout. There were email issues between Darren and the sub contracted plumber which meant I had to chase them up. The plumber who performed the job left quite a mess behind, no clean up done at all. A big hole was left the wall of the shower that I had to hire someone else in to fix. Plumber did drop off something to patch the hole with 6 days later. $200 for 1.5 hours work, which was left incomplete (in my view, due to the hole) and a mess for us to clean up. I am disappointed and annoyed with the sub-contracter and would not use plumber again but would have no hesitation in using other services from Darren. I repeat that the communication and professionalism from Darren in the pre-work stage was good, and Darren has been professional, polite and reasonable in sort out my concerns with the work that was carried out.

Tradesperson reply
"I am a conscientious tradesman and business owner/operator and take my business very seriously. We have never received any complaints regarding our plumber’s service or charges and I was therefore surprised and concerned to read Stuart’s comments. I immediately contacted Stuart to discuss his dissatisfaction with our plumber. We talked at great lengths about the job and the pricing and reassured our customer with regards to our work ethics. It is unfortunate that with many plumbing jobs (leaks, new fittings etc) it is often necessary to cut or remove plaster, tiling or lining etc. to get access to pipes and fittings. Although the plumber cannot always repair holes etc (depending on size, if tiled etc), on this occasion, a plastic moulding could be used to cover the hole. Unfortunately the Plumber did not one with him but did drop one off with the customer when he was next passing. With regards to the pricing: a free, no obligation quotation is always offered and our customers are charged our usual hourly rate, travel, parts (if any) and GST. I can reassure customers that we only ever strive to provide a professional and efficient service. Regards Darren @ DC Home Services & Electrical"
