Shower faucet review and repair

We have a shower of average quality that was installed prior to us owning the home 5 years ago. the shower is constantly dripping and the faucet seems to be stuffed. I have taken the fascia plate off and the faucet mechanism seems to be set into the wall behind the plastic cladding that surrounds the shower. At a guess we need to repair and or replace the shower head and faucet. timeframe is in the next month or so please as the noise is getting annoying. access during the week is usually fine.
