Skim coat & room prep

We've been stripping paper from our old lounge wall, it's old fibreboard so its unfortunately a bit rough to start painting straight away so we were helping for a professional to sort out the wall surfaces for painting by throwing a skim coat on it. Open to suggestions on the best way to do this of course! Dimensions-wise the room is roughly 8M long and 4 -6M wide
