Patching up exposed insulation/gap in wall

We have a gap in our wall where the insulation is exposed that we need covered up. It looks like it is due to the curtain rod being too long and so that part of the wall is now exposed to make room for the curtain rod but that has left a part of the wall unfinished and the insulation exposed. The curtain rod may need to be shortened or maybe just part of the wall below the curtain rod could be patched.
