Exterior house repairs

We need the roof and eaves checked for gaps and holes - there are rats or birds getting in under the roof. The roofspace is very small, not an accessible crawlspace. The house is 70 sq m, one storey but 2 storeys high on the south side (built on a slope), the roof itself is about 10 years old and in good condition. Likely that the quakes have opened up gaps in the joinery though. Ideally we'd like any holes repaired with the wildlife on the outside! But this may be difficult. Open to suggestions once the source of the problem has been found.
