Job description

Exterior Painting
Ruapehu

Hi all, We are looking for a painter willing to take up the job to paint our exterior window frames in our Raetihi holiday-home. The job was started by yours truly, however with the previous paint being what looks like oil-based, it's much too thick and therefore time-consuming job for me. We have successfully used a heat-gun to strip some parts of the old paint. We have 1 triple window, 1 really long window, 5 double windows, and 6 single windows which each have a wooden frame. We are looking to have these stripped of old paint (if necessary) and any dings or imperfections filled/fixed prior to the new coats. If you're also up for it, resetting the glass in the frames as some of the current putty has chipped off, and other bits have mould growing (plus it's all just very old). The purpose for this is that a lot of the paint has already flaked off due to sun exposure, and our window frames are struggling through the winter months! We need it sealed up before we start to get water damage. We would be looking to have this complete by winter (as by that time the paint struggles to dry, anyway!). Preferably someone with an understanding of the weather conditions of the area. I have received a guesstimate quote of $750, however that was somebody coming down from Auckland. Open to offers/ quotes would be appreciated! Warm regards, Sarah

Kevin quoted a good rate for this job (repainting windows). The job was not fully completed. The work he had done is good (sanding and puttying the windows). He said he ran out of time due to the job being bigger than expected and would have to charge more to come back and complete it. Then communication stopped. We heard from the neighbours (this is a holiday house) that it looked like they were just having a “piss up” and there were lots of beer bottles. Maybe that’s why they ran out of time.
