We would like to prevent puddles of standing water as much as possible in the area of our "flat" section that our chickens live in. This area has always had dips and hollows but because the chickens had eaten/scratched away all the grass, it gets very muddy and wet after lots of rain. We'd like to slope it so the water runs away to the boundaries and away from the house. We'd also like to regrass part of the area, either with ready-lawn or seed. The chickens will be kept off this area in bad weather so the grass will hopefully survive. I don't think it's a difficult job, but we would like it done properly to get the best drainage result possible. We are after a functional, cost-effective solution that can be completed before winter. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the area covered with water but here is what it looks like at the moment.
